Elk Run sits on Flagstaff's east side, about 4 miles from downtown, near East Butler Avenue, Foxglenn Park, and Continental Country Club. Its recorded sections include Elk Run, Elk Run Villas, and Elk Run Townhouses Amended, and townhome communities such as the Village at Elk Run and Forest on the Green share the MLS area. Streets such as North Elk Run Street, East Broken Rock Loop, and North Whispering Pines Way run through mature ponderosa pines.

Elk Run buyers are often choosing between a townhome and a single-family home a few streets apart. We compare the HOA budgets and roof histories as closely as the price, because in the townhome sections those drive the long-term cost.

Over the last twelve months the MLS shows 23 closings. The 8 single-family homes sold from $510,000 to $1,635,000, with a median of $905,000; the typical one was about 2,320 square feet, built around 1994, on about 13,800 square feet of land. The 15 townhomes sold from $395,000 to $635,000, with a median of $474,000, and were built 1985 to 2001. Median days on market was 48 for single-family homes and 118 for townhomes.

Associations vary by section. According to an Arizona HOA directory, the Elk Run Townhouse Owner's Association dates to 1983 and the Village at Elk Run HOA to 1995, with HOAMCO managing the Village. A local brokerage reports that single-family homes belong to the Continental Country Club master association. In early 2025 the City issued more than 50 re-roof permits on North Whispering Pines Way in the townhome section. Foxglenn Park, with sports fields, ramadas, and a paved trail along the Rio de Flag, is on Butler Avenue.
